Metallographic Type B Diamond Lapping Films
Type B Lapping Film Spec Sheet |
Diamond lapping films - There basically two types of diamond lapping films, continuous (Type A) or beaded (Type B). Type A is very common, however Type B diamond lapping films offer a number of advantages, including: higher cut rates, longer life and increased durability. As seen in the SEM photograph to the left, the film consists of a beaded or a ceramic bead containing diamond particles. As the glass beads wear, addition or new diamond is exposed, thus providing higher cut rates and increased film life over standard Type A diamond lapping films. Type B diamond lapping films are used for precision surface finishing of microelectroincs, fiber optics, glass polishing, flat lapping and a wide variety of other surfaces requiring a very precise and controlled surface finish. |
